When to replace mailboxes and how to do it fast

Signs that mailboxes need replacing, what the building has to decide, and how fast it can really be done.

Signs it’s time. Doors won’t close, locks are broken, nobody has a key, the numbers have peeled off, the casing is rusted through. In practice, many buildings haven’t replaced their mailboxes since the building went up.

Why it’s not a minor issue. Bills and official documents land in the mailbox. A broken lock is a personal data problem.

What needs deciding. The model and capacity, where to install them, and whether you need a separate newspaper compartment.

How long it takes. Installation itself is a one-day job. With ordering and delivery, a realistic timeline is a few working days. In our experience, mailboxes have gone up as early as the third working day.

What to sort out right after installation. Keys need to go to the owners, and apartment numbers need to be labeled. The easiest way is to leave the keys in the mailboxes themselves and let people know in the building chat.

What to do with the old wall. The area behind the old boxes is almost always damaged, so it gets patched and repainted at the same time.
