How to check your building's debt to Rīgas Siltums and Rīgas ūdens

This data is public. You don’t have to wait for someone to tell you.

Heating debt. Rīgas Siltums publishes a list of apartment building owners’ debts on its website, in the debts section. The data usually reflects the situation at the start of the month.

Water debt. Rīgas ūdens publishes a list of payment debts for apartment buildings.

How to read the number. Find your address and note the amount. Compare it with neighboring buildings. Both lists are long, and most buildings in Riga show similar amounts. One building’s number alone doesn’t tell you much. In context, it makes sense.

What to do with this information. If there’s a debt and it’s growing, that’s a signal that no one is working with non-paying residents in the building. If there’s a debt but it isn’t changing, the situation is under control.

A practical step. Print out both numbers and show them at the meeting. A specific, publicly verifiable figure changes the conversation more than any opinion.
