When to submit meter readings to avoid a billing difference

When and how to read and submit water meter readings correctly, so the building doesn't end up with an unnecessary consumption difference.

The main principle. The shared meter at the building’s main inlet is read on the last day of the month. The closer to that date the apartment meters get read, the smaller the mathematical difference.

A typical mistake. Someone wrote down the reading on the 15th but submitted it on the 28th. Two weeks of consumption ended up in the difference and got split among all the neighbors.

How to do it right. Read the meter as close to the end of the month as possible. Submit it by the deadline. Write down exactly the number you see on the dial, without rounding.

If you forgot. Don’t submit a made-up number. It’s better to submit the real reading late.

If you’re away. Submit the reading in advance, or ask someone you trust to do it. Vacation is one of the most common causes of differences in summer.

The easiest way. You can submit the reading through the portal, by SMS, WhatsApp, or email. If writing feels like a hassle, a voice message works fine, just say the number out loud.
